Who we are

Concert’Action Lachine is an issue table of a trans-sectoral, multi-networking nature dedicated to social development. It brings together about fifty different actors from the community (representatives from community groups, businesses, public and quasi-public institutions and residents of Lachine), all of whom are involved in local social development. The issue table’s objectives are to mobilize the community around issues of social development, to promote the sharing of information and to carry out concerted projects on its territory of intervention.

Historical background

The issue table concerned with the social development of Lachine officially emerged in May of 2002. A few months earlier, following the initiative of the CLSC du Vieux La Chine, the community’s social actors were getting together, asserting their interests in forming a trans-sectoral, multi-networking issue table that would allow them to carry out concrete deeds in terms of local social development.

During a meeting in May of 2002, members were asked to give priority to three specific issues pertaining to the social development of Lachine out of many challenges that had been identified through a careful analysis of that specific territory. Those priorities arising from dialogues with the community are the following: housing, schooling and fighting against poverty. Since then, Concert’Action Lachine keeps on growing through its actions guided by the three major committees founded at the very beginning and also by subcommittees stemming from them.

Mission
